IMC Recognized by AIA for Outstanding Industry ContributionsTour d’ AAPEX Raises More than $51,000 for AAIA Study of Telematics
Las Vegas, NV October 31, 2007 IMC was recognized by the Auto International Association (AIA) and segment of the AAIA for its outstanding contributions to the industry, stemming from the Los Angeles to Las Vegas bicycle ride named Tour d’ AAPEX. IMC presented a check to AAIA President Kathleen Schmatz totaling $51,250 to be used for the study of Telematics and the impact of the technology on the aftermarket. The check presentation was made at the annual AIA luncheon.
Team IMC was comprised of 12 riders made up of IMC employees and industry partners who rode 350 miles from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. The Team IMC left Los Angeles on October 25, 2007 and arrived at the Sands Expo on October 28, 2007.
Telematics refers to the process in which cars communicate wirelessly with the dealership, which allows dealers to run diagnostics remotely. Because the dealer alerts the owners of issues with the car, the dealer typically gets the first opportunity to repair the vehicle. This challenges the relationship between the customer and independent repair shops.
The Aftermarket needs to turn Telematics into an opportunity for the independent repair facility. Would you like to support Team IMC and contribute to the study of telematics and help to ensure the Aftermarket's future? If you would like to participate in this effort, please send a check of any amount made payable to IMC and mail it to:
